Speed Comparison of GPRS, EDGE, 3G, HSDPA 4G, LTE, WiMax

Speed Comparison of GPRS, EDGE, 3G, HSDPA 4G, LTE, WiMax

According to moving towards mobile technology, types of connection and quality is increasing; they are different generations of antennas and mobile technology, which evolves while maintaining compatibility with the types of frequencies and earlier connections.

If we have a next-generation mobile, see depending on the data coverage, the connection symbol us is changed, from lowest to highest speed, between Gprs or G < and < 3G < 3.5 g or H, but, what can be expected of each connection?

  • GPRS, (General Packet Radio Service). It allows maximum 80 Kbps, i.e. 0.08 "Megs" speed. It is the slowest connection, but also for more coverage; to give an analogy, it is like putting "AM" instead of "FM" radio. You hear worse, but it reaches farther. Speed is similar to old phone 56 Kbps PC modems.
  • EGPRS, or EDGE (Enhanced Data rates for GSM of Evolution) (rates enhanced data for GSMevolution), i.e., is an evolution of the previous one, which allows up to a maximum of 236 Kbps, i.e. 0,236 download "Megas".
  • 3 G or UMTS, (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System), third-generation (3 G) mobile phone systems. Allows speeds up to 2 Mbps (2 "megs"), or what is the same, more than 200 real Kilobytes of download, but this only under optimal conditions (with antenna 2 m XD). The rate will vary depending on the coverage and the speed you allowing the phone provider.
  • HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access) is the Queen of connections; the optimization of the spectral technology UMTS/WCDMA, which can reach speeds of descent of up to 14 Mbps under optimal conditions (1,400 real Kilobytes). It is the best current speed that can get our phones.
We display an "H" is not always synonymous with high speed; in many mobile contracts to reduce prices, give us a certain amount of Megabytes for a price, passed the limit the mobile will be at a reduced speed, similar to gprs (depends on company).

These are the types of most commonly used data connection. If you want more details, you can consult the Wikipedia page with a summary of the types of connection.
